Tony Moran
Tony Moran is a United States-based performer and film producer. His claim to fame stems from his brief portrayal of the barefaced Michael Myers in the seminal 1978 horror picture, Halloween. Beyond this iconic role, he has made appearances on television programs such as The Waltons and CHiPs. He is the older sibling of fellow entertainers Erin Moran, recognized for her role in Happy Days, and John Moran.
Professional Life
Halloween:
- Before his involvement in Halloween, Tony Moran was an aspiring actor. At the time, he was employed on Hollywood and Vine, where he performed as a character resembling Frankenstein.
- Moran shared an agent with his sister, Erin, who played Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days. When Moran auditioned for the role of Michael Myers in 1978, he met with director John Carpenter and producer Irwin Yablans. He has since revealed that he was initially hesitant to take the part, changing his mind only after learning that Donald Pleasence would be involved.
- He was subsequently contacted and informed that he had been cast.
- Moran received $250 for his appearance in Halloween and did not reprise the role in any subsequent sequels, although he was compensated for his image being used in the opening sequence of Halloween II, which recapped the original film.
Additional Projects:
- Halloween remained Moran's sole cinematic appearance for three decades. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, he made guest appearances on various television series, including CHiPs, The Waltons, James at 15, and California Fever.
- In 2008, Moran resumed his acting career with the short film The Lucky Break. In 2010, he produced and starred in the horror film Beg, which also featured his Halloween co-star P.J. Soles. He also starred in the 2014 film Dead Bounty.
