Russell Conaway is also deeply connected to the history of Dothan, Alabama. As the great-grandson of Edwin Russell Porter, founder of the historic E.R. Porter Hardware, Russell proudly continues a family legacy that began in 1889.

Recognized as Alabama’s oldest continually operating hardware store, E.R. Porter Hardware remains a treasured landmark whose appearance has remained largely unchanged for generations. The store is famous for its vast inventory and hard-to-find items, inspiring the local saying:
